Kansas woman captures the International Pancake Race title

A woman in Kansas is now the world’s best at flipping a pancake, then running a race while wearing an apron and head scarf and holding a skillet.

The race is held annually on the same Tuesday as Fat Tuesday, in recognition of International Pancake Day. Two timed trials are held in Olney, England, and Liberal, Kansas. The fastest contestant wins the race for her hometown. And as the High Plains Leader & Times reports, 28-year-old Nicole Schowengerdt captured this year’s title.
