Next year marks the 20th anniversary of Kansas City Actors Theatre and they’re celebrating with a dynamic lineup of shows for their 2024-2025 season.

Kansas City Actors Theatre is an artist-led and artist-driven nonprofit organization that seeks to highlight Kansas City’s diverse theatre community.

Their 2024-2025 season lineup includes a regional production of a classic, an adaptation of a classic thriller, a revival of a contemporary classic, and a regional premiere of a new play.

The season will kick off with the Tony Award winning play, The Lehman Trilogy. Written by Stefano Massini and directed by John Rensenhouse, the play tells the story of the Lehman family and the collapse of their financial empire from 1844 to 2008 in New York City. The show will run from May 22 to June 29 at Union Station’s City Stage.

Jeffery Hatcher’s adaptation of Frederick Knott’s classic murder mystery Dial M, For Murder will take the City Stage in Union Station from Sept. 11-29. The psychological thriller tells the story of a jealous husband who spins a web of suspicion and deception that leads to a murder gone awry.

Alice Childress’ Trouble in the Mind will make its regional premiere at the City Stage at Union Station from Aug. 7-25, 2024. Directed by Teisha M. Bankston and Darren Sextro, the comedic drama follows a Black actress during her first few days of rehearsal for a new play about racism while tackling themes of identity, ego and shines a light on the high pressures of 1950s Broadway.

The season will close out with the contemporary classic, Doubt: A Parable. Written by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Gary Heisserer, the play tells a nuanced story of an exacting principal of a Bronx Catholic school who suspects relations between a charismatic priest and a student. The show will run from February to March 2025, location TBA.
