John’s Big Deck to get remodel; Phoenix re-opens

The cold really effects a big deck.

This weekend I heard a rumor about John’s Big Deck closing.  After calling the bar several times with no response I made the trek to ninth and Wyandotte to see for myself what the deal was.

According to a sign on the door John’s Big Deck is closed for remodeling, thus for the time being, Downtown has lost another bar. Fortunately, just one block away on 8th Street, I was happy to see The Phoenix Piano Bar and Grill with lots of cars parked in front and in the side lot.

I was in a hurry so I didn’t stop, but people have been telling me it’s just as hip as the original.
