Jess & Jim’s named one of The Daily Meal’s 20 best steakhouses in America

The Kansas City steakhouse is back. Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse (517 E. 135th St.) was recently named to The Daily’s Meal’s list of “America’s 20 Best Steakhouses.” The Martin City institution comes in at number nine in the rankings with points for its hand-cut steaks and Kansas beef:
In a town known for great steak, Jess & Jim’s stands apart from the pack, and did so even before Calvin Trillin put it on the map in 1972, when he named it one of the country’s best steakhouses in Playboy. Family owned and operated since 1938, this no-frills, casual steakhouse is no pomp, and all steak.
The Daily Meal says go for the 25-ounce Playboy sirloin. But if you’re really feeling low on iron, you might as well take the 75-ounce challenge introduced this year for Jess & Jim’s 75th anniversary.
