I’ll have a strawberry daiquiri — hold the glass

You might have thought you were too old for popsicles — but a new wave of liquor-filled icy treats could likely change your mind.

LiQ is a new frozen cocktail on a stick. The poptails (the other term Fat City thought about using was genuinely dirty) are available in two flavors — strawberry daiquiri and margarita — made with rum and tequila, respectively.

For now, the drinks are being test-marketed in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Miami. At 6 percent alcohol by volume and a suggested retail price of $6 to $8, this easily falls into the category of novelty drink.

Another popsicle-like liquor drink, FrostShots, hit the Web at the start of the year. The alcoholic version of Otter Pops is available in wine-cooler-esque flavors like “cherry bomb” and “extreme mojito.” The metallic packaging is reminiscent of Capri Suns.

FrostShots don’t appear to have made their way to Kansas City and are not currently sold online. But don’t worry — according to the manufacturer’s Web site, you have plenty of time before you try one. “Due to our liqueur-based ingredients, FrostShot technically has no expiration date,” reads the frequently asked questions.
