Huddle House, a 24-hour diner, to open in Westport in August

Tucked within a Fox 4 story about Westport development was the news that Huddle House, a Southern diner chain, will be coming to the neighborhood this August. The 24-hour restaurant will be located at 3957 Broadway in the space that once housed Midwest Cyclery. It’s part of a multitiered plan from Dr. Ahmed Awad, the developer behind Open Fire Pizza, which opened in Westport earlier this year.
While Huddle House is new to Kansas City (the chain with 420 locations is based in Atlanta), it has a menu that seems built for the Midwest: fried pickles served with ranch, chop house burgers and patty melts. Breakfast offers steak and eggs, country ham, chicken biscuits, chicken-fried steak and white pepper country gravy, and a side of grits or hash browns.
