French fries (or freedom fries as they are known to Toby Keith) come from nearly ever corner of the vegetable aisle these days. Remedy has eggplant fries (it’s also Craft Beer Week there this week — Boulevard’s Rye on Rye is in the house). Rhythm and Booze has fried zucchini sticks. And Urban Table has polenta fries.

Is the move away from waffle-cut and shoestring taters something you welcome or is it simply the next version of the veggie-stick phenomenon that has crept onto store shelves over the past two decades?
