Historic Galvin’s Dinnerhouse gets fried, owner says he’ll re-open

Next month, the venerable Galvin’s Dinnerhouse — a family-style fried-chicken restaurant on the outskirts of St. Joseph — would have turned 70 years old. Yesterday morning, the old brick building was nearly consumed by fire — “an electrical problem,” according to the local St. Joseph newspaper which quotes the owner, Bill Grace, as “vowing to re-open.”
And to think, it all started 70 years ago…as a gas station.
