Guilty Pleasures: Tanna Guthrie

By OWEN MORRIS
Tanna Guthrie originally came to fame as part of the radio trio Max, Tanna and Moffit on 99.7 KY. She now has her own radio show on 98.1 KUDL called “The Late Afternoon Show With Tanna Guthrie.” It runs from 2 to 7 p.m. weekdays. In addition, she keeps a blog on her Web site. We asked her what she eats when no one’s looking.
It’s very labor intensive, but when I am ready to go for it I will go to Dean & Deluca and get one of those walnut rum brownies. Then, I will go to Dairy Queen and get a cup of ice cream and I’ll get the hot fudge on the side. I bring it home to assemble and that is my guilty pleasure.
You’ve got to create it yourself. You get your brownie first. Then go to Dairy Queen and you’ve got to make sure they put the fudge separate from the ice cream and they’ll look at you like, “Why are you doing that?” Don’t even ask, I’m just doing it. By the time I get home I can assemble it real quickly and I love that.
When ice cream is by itself, I like hard ice cream more. But I don’t like it with the brownie because it’s too hard. It smooshes when you cut through the hard ice cream to the brownie. I like soft-serve with it because you can gently cut through the soft serve. For soft serve I think Dairy Queen is the absolute best ice cream. I wish I had some now. I know where all the Dairy Queens are. The one near my house, on Roe, closed and is now some barbecue place. I was going to picket that. I can’t believe they closed.
Any hot fudge would be fine. it’s just Dairy Queen has it and I don’t have any at my house. It’s got to be hot fudge, not chocolate syrup. Don’t you hate that syrup. Blah!
