Greek Festival is all about the food, music and spirit of Greece

Stuffed grape leaves, custard-filled galaktobouriko pastry, marinated pork souvlaki skewers.

It’s all on the menu this weekend at the 54th annual Greek Festival; the community of St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church in Overland Park has hosted a summer festival for over a half-century celebrating the native cuisine and culture of the Hellenic Republic. It draws huge crowds, so be prepared to wait in line. Oh, and bring an umbrella.

It’s all happening this weekend — June 12-14 — on the grounds of the church at 8100 West 95th Street: Tonight from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission and parking are free with additional parking across 95th street at Holy Cross School. This year, for the first time, the church has arranged for free parking at  Valley View Bank, 7500 West 95th Street , with free shuttle service to the festival.
