  • Ah, the excitement of new beer on tap.

Beer doesn’t always have to be dark to be full of surprises. Case in point is the Beechwood Blonde Bock, the new release that will be tapped by Gordon Biersch this week. Brewer James Hudec has crafted a strong Bavarian golden lager aged on Beechwood chips in the German tradition. The brewpub with two local locations is holding tapping parties on consecutive days.

The Gordon Biersch in Kansas City (100 East 14th Street) will have the kickoff tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. The Leawood location (11652 Ash) will tap the Beechwood Blonde Bock on Thursday, January 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Happy Hour starts at 4 p.m. in Kansas City with $5 house-made chips, garlic fries and rosemary chicken flatbread, and $1 off Gordon Biersch lagers and ales.
