Goodbye Kennedy’s, hello Remedy, Waldo’s new gastropub

• Waldo’s iconic Kennedy’s Bar and Grill was destroyed in a 2007 fire; it’s now getting another new life.

There will be an Irish wake this Saturday night at Kennedy’s Bar and Grill at 512 West 75th Street.

“A wake, a last call, the final round,” says general manager Jeff O’Brien.

After a long run in Waldo – including moving into a brand-new building after the original home, in the former Waldo Astoria Dinner Theatre, was completely destroyed in 2007 – the popular saloon closes on Sunday and will reopen on June 15 as a new gastropub, Remedy Food and Drink. “We have new owners, and they wanted to build a serious reputation for the culinary side of things,” says O’Brien. “Kennedy’s didn’t exactly have the best reputation for its food, so we’re completely rebranding the business.”
