Get your Jazzoo tickets before it’s too late

The Kansas City Zoo pulls a George Burns and turns 100 this week, celebrating its centennial with its largest fundraiser of the year this Friday. For its part, Jazzoo is now 20 years old.
Tickets for the black tie affair begin at $200 per individual and go up from there, with patron packages starting at $1,000 for “Charitable Chimps” (includes two patron tickets and parking pass). For that price, guests can taste food from more than
70 restaurants including Oak Street Cafe, Yia Yia’s European Bistro, Pierpont’s and The Roasterie. Thirteen bars will be placed strategically throughout the park, while bands such as The Republic Tigers, Cherry Bomb and
Barclay Martin Ensemble provide the entertainment.
The main event starts at 7:30 p.m (the Patron Party’s at 6:30). The zoo has stopped selling tickets online but you can still purchase them by calling 816-513-5800. There will be no will-call window on Friday, so you must pick up your tickets by 4 p.m.
If your budget runs more along the lines of 200 cents than 200 dollars, the zoo is offering various discounted snacks every Monday through August. As Plog explains, a buck can get you popcorn, nachos with cheese or an ice cream snack, depending on the Monday.
