Fuddruckers, the Houston-based fast-casual chain devoted to the hamburger — although it also offers chicken sandwiches, salads, and a veggie burger — is back in the metro and participating in next week’s Burger Week, sponsored by The Pitch.

During Burger Week — Monday, October 19, through Sunday, October 25 — 16 area restaurants will each offer a distinctive hamburger, day and night, for five bucks. Not all of the participating restaurants offer a side (like, say, french fries) in that deal. But some do.

Fries, onion rings, and sweet-potato fries cost extra at Fuddruckers, but the condiments and fresh toppings (sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, pickles, jalapeno peppers and pico de gallo) are part of the $5 package.

Five years ago, there were two local Fuddruckers restaurants: Independence and the long-standing property at 8725 Metcalf in Overland Park which was shuttered in 2010 after a long run. The latest outpost of Fuddruckers opened August 11 in the former Cheeseburger in Paradise building — it’s as big as an auditorium — at 1705 Village West Parkway in the Legends complex. Fuddruckers and Cheeseburger in Paradise have the same corporate owner,  Luby’s, which owns the cafeteria chain of the same name.

For Burger Week is offering its quarter-pound BBQ Burger, topped with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, bacon and a generous amount of this venue’s tangy, not-too-sweet Smokehouse barbecue sauce.

A seasonal pumpkin milkshake is also available.
