Free State Octoberfest is being tapped at Tavern in the Village tonight

October is probably best enjoyed with a beer in hand. Free State Brewery and Tavern in the Village are doing their part, at least for tonight. To celebrate the Lawrence brewery’s release of its seasonal Octoberfest beer, Tavern in the Village (3901 Prairie Lane, Prairie Village) is having a free beer tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.

In that two-hour window, Free State bottles (Ad Astra, Wheat State Golden, Oatmeal Stout) and drafts (Octoberfest will be on tap) will cost $2, and tastings of the Octoberfest brew will be available. Tavern in The Village will also have some beer-inspired appetizers — Free State Golden Beer Cheese and pretzel roll.
