Franks is getting ready to grill on Southwest Boulevard

  • The signs are up, and Franks is almost open.

Restaurateur Dan Clothier has spent the past several weeks working to get a hood installed over the charcoal grill that he believes is the secret to Franks, the hot-dog shop that he has recently moved from the West Bottoms to 520 Southwest Boulevard.

“For a few hundred dollars, we could have had a gas charbroiler and saved all this grief,” Clothier says. “But you have to sacrifice some things for perfection, and I think the charcoal taste is an important part of our brand.”

The space that was last used as a Cricket Wireless store will open next week as Franks.
