Macaroni and cheese will be a trend … again?

​We did a little eye-rolling last month over the list of 2011 food trends “predicted” by a National Restaurant Association poll of more than 1,000 American chefs. After all, a lot of the so-called predictions were already standard practices in many restaurants.

Nation’s Restaurant News writer Bret Thorne is now adding his own crystal-ball predictions to the list of 2011 trends, including “looking to the home-spun past for culinary inspiration.” In simpler terms, comfort foods. You know, like hamburgers, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese.
