No, there’s not a bit of spotted dick on the menu for the high tea served at this Saturday’s British Faire, but one of the vendors selling English-made products (including the Lawrence-based shop, Brits, and the Better Cheddar) might be selling a tin or two of the sponge pudding in the boutique shopping section of the Faire, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lenexa Community Center, 13420 Oak in Lenexa. For the last 27 years, the Bard of Avon chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire have hosted an event celebrating all things British. The event features a traditional high tea, with seatings between 11 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. (no reservations are taken; it’s a first-come, first-served soiree), featuring egg salad and cucumber finger sandwiches, scones, sausage rolls, jam tarts and plenty of freshly brewed PG Tips hot tea.
