- Vegetables will be back this week at Ilus Davis Park.
Downtown office workers will have another option besides the City Market this summer for fresh produce as the Downtown Farmers Market kicks off on Thursday at 11 a.m. Vendors will be set up in Ilus Davis Park at 11th Street and Oak. The first day of the market features a cooking demonstration, gardening tips, a 15-minute wellness walk and brief remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo.
“The City is trying to lead by example to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to our employees and the surrounding downtown community,” Circo said in a release. “Having access to fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as exercise, are keys to a healthy lifestyle. It improves your physical and mental health.”
The Downtown Farmers Market will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays through mid-October. The market opening is weather-dependent. If it’s raining, the kickoff will be pushed back to Thursday, June 7, at 11 a.m.
