Doughnut Lounge will take over Imagery space in Westport in July

It’s official: Jake Randall, a 32-year-old entrepreneur, has signed the lease for the double storefront  at 4117 Pennsylvania. That address is now occupied by the clothing store Imagery. Randall’s plan is to have his Doughnut Lounge — a bar, coffeehouse and, yes, doughnut shop — open by July.

Randall has already hired an executive pastry chef who is helping him work out doughnut recipes in a River Market test kitchen. Randall’s partner, he says, is a local celebrity — he won’t yet say who.

When it opens, Doughnut Lounge will have dining-area seating, he says, “between 100 and 150 seats,” a full bar and a full-time barista. It will open at 6 a.m. daily and continue to make fresh doughnuts (yeast, cake, old-fashioned filled pastries) until midnight before a 1 a.m. closing time.

In addition to sweet pastries, Randall says the Doughnut Lounge will feature several savory items, including a biscuits-and-gravy doughnut, a barbecue doughnut, and a mac-and-cheese doughnut. There will also be what Randall calls “that hybrid doughnut” (the pastry that uses croissant pastry for the doughnut).

“I’d like to partner with some of our Westport neighbors,” he says. “I think it would be really cool to have a Port Fonda doughnut.”
