Dawg Town: Chicago dogs, north of the river

Nearly a decade ago, Adam Clay was a manager at Skies restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Crown Center Hotel. He’s never really left the food service business, although these days he’s a little more hands-on. On Saturdays, Clay now sells Chicago-style hot dogs from a cart in the heart of downtown North Kansas City — in a parking lot very close to where you turn off Burlington onto Armour Road.
Clay sells a traditional Chicago dog: an all-beef dog on a poppy-seed bun, loaded up with that vividly green “Chicago relish,” chopped onion, two wedges of fresh tomato, sport peppers, a pickle slice and a dusting of celery salt. For fans of the real Chicago dog experience, head north.
