Cupcake A La Mode, not Sprinkles, will be the first Plaza cupcake shop

Despite a yearlong rumor that Sprinkles (its website continues to list Kansas City as a “coming soon” possibility) might be headed to the Plaza, it won’t be the first cupcake shop in Kansas City’s signature shopping district.

The Kansas City Business Journal reports that Cupcake A La Mode will move, likely in early April, from its current location at 1209 W. 47th St. to 4639 Wornall (across from Houston’s). Cupcake A La Mode will operate two Plaza-area stores briefly — the current shop expected to stay open until June 1.
