Closed: Texas Tom’s on Linwood

​What was supposedly Kansas City’s original Texas Tom’s fast food restaurant, at 709 E. Linwood, is closed and boarded-up.

A Fat City reader who was a regular patron called to say that he’s “been in a state of depression” since the neighborhood joint — a fixture on a stretch of Linwood that once boasted the original Lamar’s Donuts and the iconic Earl’s Burgers — closed a few weeks ago. The Texas Tom’s restaurants at 5522 Independence Avenue and 5401 Blue Parkway are still open for business.
