Closed Restaurant List: November

Matchstick BBQ, which opened just this past summer, closed last month. I never had the opportunity to eat at the storefront restaurant, but most of the comments in response to Fat City’s June 8 blog post seemed generally positive (except for a one damning post in late August that still praised the food). Real estate maven Greg Patterson, who handled the Matchstick BBQ lease, said that the owners dawdled over attempting to obtain a liquor license for the restaurant, which didn’t help business.

Another 39th Street restaurant, Thai Garden, which had opened across the street in the old Bell Street Mama’s space, also didn’t last very long; it closed earlier this year.

Also gone: the Outback Steakhouse at 6870 Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas, and Cleat’z Sports Bar & Grill in the Legends entertainment complex in Wyandotte County.
