Parents are getting ‘recession-weary’ and eating out again

​The restaurant industry received a glimmer of good news recently. Families, which had cut back on dining in restaurants, returned to dining out in greater numbers over the summer, reversing a three-year downward trend.

In a story posted online today by Nation’s Restaurant News, the Chicago-based research organization, NPD Group reported that for the quarter than ended in August, “restaurant visits by parties with kids increased 1 percent over the year-ago period.”
