Cinco de Mayo: Where to celebrate

With no shortage of options for Cinco de Mayo events in town, the only question is how many can you attend? As for the history of the actual day and where it stands in the current political climate, ABC News has the breakdown — Fat City will just stick to the festivities.

Southwest Boulevard is probably the first place that comes to mind. Margarita’s (2829 Southwest Boulevard) celebrates its 20th anniversary and always hosts an annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Just down the street, Ponak’s Mexican Kitchen (2856 Southwest Boulevard) will have free T-shirts along with specials on margaritas and tacos. La Bodega (703 Southwest Boulevard) might not be as jam-packed, and its happy hour goes until 6 p.m. We recommend the tortilla espanola — a Spanish omelet of potatoes and onions with a red pepper aioli — or patatas bravas (potatoes in a spicy tomato sauce).
