Celebrate Kansas’ 150th birthday and four other weekend choices

Kansas hardly looks a day over 100, but this weekend, The Legends at Village West is throwing a 150th birthday party to honor the state’s history.

And every party needs a cake, but few will measure up to the three-dimensional cake depicting the new Kansas stamp being made by MeMa’s Bakery. While you might enjoy looking at it, you’ll be glad to know that all comers get a free piece. Cake is available at MeMa’s at the Legends from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow (the actual day to celebrate Kansas’ statehood) and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
