Celebrate Bastille Day
Viva la revolution! As mentioned in this week’s dining newsletter Pitch Forks, today is Bastille Day and a couple of events are going on so that the Francophiles among us can help the French celebrate their independence.
You can storm on down to Le Fou Frog for the final night of its three-day celebration, which features the modern cabaret group Alacartoona, a special menu from chef Mano Rafael and plenty of vin.
In Lawrence, coffee-house-cum-hippie-bar The Bourgeois Pig begins its celebration at 5 tonight with complimentary food and drink specials. The party lasts until 2 a.m.
Then Quinze Juillet, tomorrow, 75th Street Brewery throws a Bastille Day beer party serving bouillabaisse,
white asparagus in Bearnaise and the classic profiteroles — cream
puffs as they’re better known here — with chocolate, paired with beers such as the French Choulette Ambree, the Belgium St. Bernard Watou Tripel
and 75th Street’s own carbernet barrel wheat white. The event starts at
7 p.m. and costs $55 per person. Buy your tickets by calling
