Celebrate Bastille Day tomorrow!

Tomorrow — July 14 — marks the 222nd anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison and fortress in Paris, an event later acknowledged as the symbolic beginning of the French revolution. An important holiday in France, Bastille Day warrants a few local celebrations, too.

Tannin Wine Bar at 1526 Walnut still has seats available for the Bastille Day Wine Dinner that it is hosting tomorrow night beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s guest will be Debra Lewis from the Washington, D.C.-based import company Vintage ’59. Tannin Wine Bar chef Brian Aaron has paired French wines with a stylish menu of French dishes, including the main entree: beef Bourguignon served with pommes Dauphinois and petite legumes served with Chateau Tour du Moulin Fronsac Bordeaux 2006. For reservations, call 816-842-2660.

A local restaurant legendary for its raucous annual Bastille Day fete, Le Fou Frog at 400 East Fifth Street, will host its 15th annual Bastille Day Bash both tomorrow and Friday nights from 5 p.m. to midnight.
