- Beer and wine go head-to-head on Thursday.
When a beer drinker marries a wine drinker, they have to settle when it comes to paired dinners. She’s happy when they’re at the Foundry for one of its monthly beer pairings. He’s in heaven when they stop by J.J.’s restaurant for the kind of wine dinner that could double as an anniversary gift. But both are simply along for the ride when they’re out of their drinking element.
Well, that couple can have their answer, as can you, as to which kind of dinner should always be their first choice, at the Bristol Seafood Grill’s (51 E. 14th St.) Grain v. Grape dinner Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The four-course dinner (the menu is here) includes a Boulevard beer and wine pairing with each course, like a Green Dirt Farms cheese plate paired with Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale and a Gustave Lorentz Gewurtzraminer. The second course is prosciutto with cantaloupe paired with Saison-Brett and Berlucci Cuve ’61 Rose sparking wine. The dinner costs $75, and reservations can be made at 816-448-6007.
