Boston Market slides into the slider market

Last year was supposedly the “Year of the Slider.” But tiny hamburgers are everywhere in 2010 too. In fact, let’s call them petite sandwiches, because some upscale vendors such as Jack Gage American Tavern and the Majestic Restaurant serve non-burger versions — the Majestic’s is a trio of ground lamb, filet mignon and a salmon BLT. There are also Burger King’s not-so-great Burger Shots and, even more recently, the non-burger sliders introduced by the Colorado-based Boston Market chain.
Boston Market’s chief executive Lane Cardwell was quoted in Nation’s Restaurant News as saying the little sandwiches — roasted turkey, meatloaf and barbecued chicken — will amp up the chain’s lunch business or be considered an afternoon snack food.
