Booze is being fried in Texas. It’s like beer-can chicken without the chicken

Everybody is bigger in Texas. And the Texas State Fair might have something to do with that. The sixth annual Big Tex Choice Awards, which in years past has produced fried coke and deep-fried butter, has led two contestants to invent methods of frying alcohol in the hopes of selling their creations at the state fair which begins on September 24.

Forget Solo cups — your booze is now coming in hush-puppy form thanks to fried beer and deep-fried frozen margaritas. The judges pick two items, one based on taste and one for its creativity, from the eight finalists.
