Black Tot Rum lets you drink like a sailor for $1,000

Life on the open seas doesn’t sound too bad — if you can take a bottle of Black Tot Rum along.

A small collection of the last stores of rum from the Royal Navy is being marketed under the name Black Tot by London-based Specialty Drinks. The bottles, which sell for $1,000, have a unique history.

On July 31, 1970, the Royal Navy doled out its last daily tot

(ration) of rum. The sailors dubbed that infamous day as Black Tot Day.

And now, 40 years later, landlubbers have a chance to see what

exactly the British sailors lost that morning.
