Billy Vanilly Cupcakes is coming to Lawrence, across the street from The Cupcake Construction Company

The former owner of Boulangerie Philippe in Prairie Village is bringing her cupcake shop to Lawrence. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that Allyson Fiander, a competitor on Cupcake Wars, and co-owner/husband Bill have signed a lease to open Billy Vanilly Cupcakes at 914 Massachusetts in the former Campus Cloth store.

The first Billy Vanilly opened in Topeka (4036 S.W. Huntoon Ave.) in 2007 as Daddy Cakes — originally named after the store’s oversized cupcake. Fiander’s shop will not be the only cupcake shop on Massachusetts Street — The Cupcake Construction Company (627 Massachusetts) opened early this month across the street in the spot previously occupied by The Pink Box Bake Shop.
