Best of KC 2026: Kansas City’s true Colors

Earlier this month, we published The Pitch’s annual Best of Kansas City issue. You can take a peek at the results of the readers’ poll here. The issue also included a list, compiled and written by our editorial staff, of some local people, places, and things that we think make 2026 KC life feel like a winner. We’ll be publishing these online throughout June and July.

Keep an eye out for this DIY party series featuring international dance music. Colors hosts DJs from Kansas City’s underground, featuring newcomers and veterans alike. 

Now with a residency at West Bottoms venue In The Lowest Ferns, you’ll catch a mix of genres close to home for performers (think: South African amapiano, Balkan pop, and UK bassline). Almost always, you’ll find a dance floor that is young and rowdy. Plus, you’re partying for a good cause: Colors events often fundraise for organizations like Sunrise Movement and Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation.
