Groupons and the bevy of online coupon competitors are perhaps the ultimate impulse buys. There’s the rush of excitement, the belief that it’s a good decision in the moment, and then the inevitable discovery of a printed-out piece of paper, in the backseat of your car, which informs you that your Groupon has expired.

With Groupon set to go public on November 4 in an uncertain stock market, and with a host of competitors, the Associated Press published a piece about the challenges facing the online company.

Kansas Citians have had the chance to Groupon since 2009, meaning it’s either part of your dining-out routine or a deal that has lost a bit of shine. Is this an “industry that is turning into the equivalent of junk mail,” or do you still value your online social coupons?
