Applebee’s, please let your servers stop singing ‘Happy Birthday’

Life sometimes means eating lunch at an Applebee’s in Liberty, Missouri. The service was prompt. The menu was expansive. Over the course of an hour in a corner booth, I understood why Applebee’s is packed on Friday nights.
But in the same hour that I spent in the company of a chicken fajita roll-up, I watched the perfectly capable serving staff forced to sing two birthday songs and encourage the restaurant to offer a round of applause for two grown men.
Everybody put their best face on, but the room was as happy as the kids at Taco Town.
