AMC Mainstreet Theater: a second look

I went to the Mainstreet Theater and its restaurant The Marquee for a second time yesterday. Previously I had only been in the restaurant area, which opened for business at the beginning of this month. The theater part, which is the in the south end of the building, is nearly done and officially opens for business May 1. (Although you can get a preview at the Kansas City Film Fest.)

The space is divided into six theaters. The three on the ground floor are for moviegoers ages 18 and over (minors are allowed with a parent or guardian). The three theaters on the top floor are smaller, with dining suites like AMC’s Fork & Screen. This level is for ages 21 and over. Communications manager Andy DiOrio stressed that each and every seat at the new theater is reserved, “so you can pick out which seat you want ahead of time and then be assured of it being available.”

Completely unique to the Mainstreet Theater is a soda fountain extravaganza that DiOrio termed the “flavor wall.”
