A new way to outsource server jobs: the iPad

  • Who needs a waiter when you have … an iPad?

Remember the old days, when a restaurant experience involved human interaction? You might be greeted at the front door by a host or hostess — although this wasn’t always a positive experience — and then a server would greet you, bring you something to drink, perhaps explain that night’s dinner specials or make a recommendation on a particular vintage from the wine list? The server might tempt you with the dessert tray at the end of a meal — and maybe even sing “Happy Birthday” if it was a special occasion.

Remember those days? They might be over.
