A guide to the Kansas City-area farmers markets

• The greens are here for farmers market season.

Farmers market season is like New Year’s Day – this is the time when you can promise yourself that you’ll eat better and really believe it. The markets that are open will be filled with greens, spring onions, eggs, meat, baked goods and jellies. They’ll also have lots of transplants for sale for gardeners. Ideally, we won’t have a frost after this weekend, so those plants should be safe in the ground.

A list of area farmers markets, organized by day, follows. I’ll put out a second list closer to the next wave of markets that launch in late May and June.
