A cool glass of beet beer

Let’s all not get too crazy today. But since it’s looking like a weird flavor day here — it only seemed appropriate to wonder about the taste of beet-flavored beer.
The Local Beet looks at creating a home batch based off roasted beets. Besides a frighteningly red wort, the steps and ingredients would seem fairly standard to a home brewer.
Jim Reith of Empire Brewing in Syracuse, New York, also has a video of the process behind BEET Beer, which had a limited release of 12 kegs last month. Interestingly, he chose to finish the beer off with a bit of rosemary. Reith compares the batch to making pumpkin beer, which has come to be an accepted fall flavor.
