A chef plus a chainsaw = ice, ice, baby

For the past eight years, the Greater Kansas City Chefs Association and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association have sponsored an ice-carving competition as a preliminary event to the festivities connected with the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association Inaugural Ball.

This year, the event is moving to the Country Club Plaza; it was held at Crown Center last year.

So far, 20 local chefs and culinary students have signed on to compete in the event.
