Twisted Doughnut has Bacon Explosion doughnuts in Overland Park

Twisted Doughnuts (14383 Metcalf), a new concept from the creative couple behind Smallcakes, is now open in Overland Park. And to prove that this doughnut shop is not like the others in town, owners Jeff and Brandi Martin have teamed with BBQ Addicts to turn the Bacon Explosion (a weave of sausage and bacon) into the Bang Bang Bacon Surprise.

“We like the idea of outrageous but sophisticated flavors,” Jeff Martin said in a release announcing the opening. “The Bacon Explosion is just that with its BBQ sausage, salty bacon and smooth smoky flavor.”

Twisted Doughnut is meant to be a departure from the classic cruller shop with employees in tie-dye shirts and plenty of non-standard doughnut options.
