Spend a night at this year’s Worlds of Fun Haunt… if you dare

As spooky season descends upon us, Haunt at Worlds of Fun opens its otherworldly doors. You’ll be sure to catch a fright as monsters parade around the park for select nights starting now through Oct. 31. The deadly fun and terror-tastic events start at 6 p.m. and are recommended for guests 13 and up.

The nightmare begins with the Overlord’s Awakening as he rises above the crowd and summons his parade of monsters to take over the park. Vampires stalk for their next prey, witches cast their spells, and a cacophony of other horrors are unleashed. Mr. Tickle’s Last Laff, a brand new live attraction, then encapsulates the audience as they step into a chaotic circus led by a tyrannical clown and a ringmaster who has become a lioness herself. Clowns dance into madness and you might even find yourself onstage for a trick or two—a must-see for newcomers and Haunt-experts alike.

Haunt has five spine-chilling haunted mazes prepared for this year: Blood on the Bayou, Bloodshed, Lore of the Vampire, Ripper Alley, and Zombie High. I only lasted through three before the night was over, but that was more than enough spook. Blood on the Bayou takes place at the French Quarter, as demons toil through murky waters seeking their next victim. The last jump scare as you run out its doors is sure to stay in your memory.

Lore of the Vampire was my favorite of the night—the only one to get a genuine blood-curdling scream out of me. It’s a gothic maze of vampires with trick doors, two stories, and endless nightmare-fuel. My last stop was at Zombie High. As undead students and staff roam the halls of a realistic high school and every classroom you pass through, it truly is a struggle to survive. Beginning this year, haunted mazes will require an additional purchase of a Haunted Attraction Pass to enter, while the rest of the festivities are included with admission.

This year, there are five scare zones throughout the park and each transports you to different, chilling lore. Take a walk through Shadowmoor Cemetery—a rotted catacomb featuring gory specialty characters and fun photo ops. The Abyss, a long-lost trailer of scientists and treasure hunters turned to the dark side after they dug too deep in the jungles of Africa, will certainly torment your dreams. If you’re feeling brave, wander towards Outlaw’s Revenge which is full of trigger-happy gunslingers and a wild, weird West. Pumpkin Eater contains a murderous creature that haunts the old woods surrounding The Hollow, a story we know all too well. If you manage to survive these, CornStalkers will take your breath away—literally. These are the haunted cornfields where undead children whisper in the dark and every murmur contains a creeping horror.

Not a fan of being scared but still want to experience Haunt? Not a problem. Haunt at Worlds of Fun offers a “No Boo Necklace” for an additional purchase of $16.99. Wearing it greatly reduces the chance that monsters in the scare zones will try to spook you, so you can still join in on the fun with your friends, significant other, or family. Haunt at Worlds of Fun runs through Oct. 31—go experience the fun… if you dare.
