ScrapsKC trivia night benefits teachers facing additional back-to-school needs
Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Now’s your chance to find out—while supporting Kansas City teachers—at the Fall Fundraiser for ScrapsKC.
Founded in 2016, ScrapsKC is a nonprofit dedicated to helping teachers and protecting the environment by recycling gently used materials for classroom use. In just nine years, the organization has touched the lives of thousands of educators, provided free resources for countless students, and diverted more than one million pounds of usable materials from landfills. Instead of ending up as waste, those supplies find their way back into schools that need them most, ensuring that children have the tools they need to learn and succeed.
“Our teachers often walk through the doors overwhelmed and under-resourced. And they leave with the tools, supplies, and encouragement they need to serve their students well,” ScrapsKC Executive Director Brenda Mott says. “This event is about celebrating that impact and ensuring it continues.”
Guests at the fundraiser can expect a lively evening packed with entertainment. The night features fast-paced trivia, craft cocktails, raffles, a silent auction, and small bites from Chef KC. Tickets are $75 per guest and include full access to all festivities. Attendees will not only bid on unique auction items but will also have the chance to test their classroom knowledge in a trivia showdown against a team of all-star 5th graders—a highlight that promises both laughs and surprises.
The fundraiser takes place on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Park 39. Guests are encouraged to dress in Picture Day Best—a playful nod to the back-to-school theme. Registration closes Thursday, Sept. 11, so secure your tickets soon. Attendees are set to enjoy an unforgettable night of fun while helping ScrapsKC continue its mission to support teachers, empower students, and reduce landfill waste.
