KC Sipps: Restaurants open on Thanksgiving, plus a new McLain’s location
Your Kansas City dining guide.
Looking for delicious plans? Whether you want to impress a date, show your fam the best of KC, or just get out of the house, we’ve got you covered… all while supporting (mostly) local.
Here is your weekly roundup of the best food and drink offerings around Kansas City. Cheers!
Something New
McLain’s Market: New to the Stanley area of Overland Park is local bakery favorite McLain’s Market. This location offers a bright and airy dine-in area, as well as a drive-through. It is open Sundays and Mondays from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Tuesdays – Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Vine Street Brewing: Last week, a new streetcar wrap was unveiled, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Kansas City Public Library. Vine Street Brewing has its own way of honoring the library. One For The Books is a Kentucky Common brew with sweet layers of vanilla to make this an easy-drinking ale to pair with a good book. It is available in cans and on draft at Vine Street Brewing.
Boulevard Brewing Company: It’s no secret that I’m a fan and cheerleader of Boulevard’s hard seltzer product: Quirk. Congratulations to Quirk for earning the U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Grand National Champion award! The Boulevard team received the award in person last Friday.

SERV: To kick off the holiday season, SERV in Overland Park is offering free drip coffee to the first 250 customers. No pickleball play is required–simply visit SERV’s GoJoe Cafe via the drive-thru, or by walking up to the order window. GoJoe Cafe serves fresh-roasted coffee from Messenger Coffee and is open today from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Warehouse on Broadway: This is a perfect spot to take a group. The live band plays recognizable hits spanning many decades and genres, and the atmosphere is casual but fun. Tonight the doors open at 7 p.m., and the band kicks off at 8:30. Specials include $3 pie shots, $2 Michelob Ultras, and no cover. However, reservations are encouraged.
Rye: At the Plaza location, Rye is staying open late for a Speakeasy Party! A $35 ticket in advance grants you after-hours access to Rye’s party with a Welcome Punch cocktail, DJ, 1920’s-themed snacks, and additional cocktails from Lifted Spirits available for purchase. Costumes are not required but encouraged, and the fun runs from 9 p.m. – 12 a. m.

Thanksgiving: If you’re in need of a place to dine today, head downtown to The Town Company (newly reopened!), Lazia, or The American Reserve. Chaz on the Plaza, Cliff’s Taphouse (featuring both traditional and vegan menus) in Martini Corner, and Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Leawood are open. In Zona Rosa, Bravo! Italian Kitchen, Granite City Brewery, and Hereford House are open. Further north, The Elms Hotel & Spa is welcoming guests for a Thanksgiving feast at Three Owls. Reservations are recommended or required for all of the above. Boho Brewing in Parkville will be open 3 – 9 p.m.

Mean Mule Distilling Co.: First, most bottles of Mean Mule spirits are $10 off this week both in store and online! Plus, the western-themed merch is 30% off. No codes needed for the discounts. From 12 – 4 p.m. on Small Business Saturday at its Crossroad’s distillery location, Mean Mule is giving a free cocktail with the purchase of a bottle or merch item, and they’re hosting Day Dream Hand Pies and Silver Linings Housewares for a pop-up. Last year I snagged a few bottles of The Kick spicy tincture to give as gifts to my friends with well-stocked bar carts at home.

Kinship Cafe: In Strawberry Hill, Kinship Cafe coffee shop is hosting a small business pop-up from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. I recommend getting a housemade breakfast burrito to fuel your day!
