Here’s your chance to tell Kansas City what you think about a new airport terminal

Earlier this year, there was all this talk about whether Kansas City International Airport should be reconfigured into a one-terminal facility.

Some people got up in arms, suggesting that a $1.2 billion project would be another Kansas City construction boondoggle. Others said KCI is a drab, lonely, inefficient space that needs a face-lift.

Then Kansas City Mayor Sly James did what big-city mayors often do when some new project creates a stir. He convened a task force full of people to talk about it and make a recommendation at some future date. The city can follow those recommendations or ignore them.

Talk died down a bit after that, which is part of the beauty of a task force. 

Now that task force, called the Airport Terminal Advisory Group, wants to hear your opinion if you have nowhere else you need to be, like at a job, at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The task force is meeting on the 26th floor of City Hall (414 E. 12th St.), opening up its get-together for public comment at 8 a.m. People are asked to limit their comments to two minutes.

If that time is lousy for you, the city promises to hold town-hall-style meetings early in 2014 to solicit further public comment.
