Tower Tavern is hosting a benefit for one of its regulars this Saturday

Unless you’re one of the bad ones, there is a special dignity in being a bar regular. There’s comfort and camaraderie, but also a degree of privacy – you’ve got your life in the bar, and your life outside it. Possibly we romanticize this dynamic because we are drunks. But who cares? It feels true. In any case, we’re always heartened to hear of occasions honoring regulars, so today we bring you word of Jay’s Big Busch Bash, a benefit at Tower Tavern for regular Jay Casey, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
This Saturday (May 31) from 3 to 11 p.m., the Union Hill bar hosts music from Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders, Loaded Goat, the Blue Boot Heelers, John Brown Boys and Station Wagon. There will be raffles, prizes and drink specials. Cover is $10, and donations are accepted. Facebook event page here.
