Dino Lab

Union Station and the University of Kansas have formed a partnership to develop this unique laboratory, the largest of its kind in America. For the first time anywhere, the whole scientific process involved in prepping dinosaur specimens will be on full public display. You can see it all, from the delicate work of extracting the ancient bones encased in rock, to pouring plastic replicas. Two Kansas City schoolchildren construct a dino puzzle These students try their hands as paleontologists while constructing a dino model during a recent class outing to Union Station. 3D bone puzzles are included as a part of the Dino Lab’s interactive group activities. The ultimate goal of the lab is to reunite an entire family of camarsauruses. First in line is Lyle. Let him tell you all about himself in our “Interview With A Camarasaurus.” When completed Lyle will be displayed inside Science City, making Union Station and Kansas City home to one of the largest mounted dinosaur specimens in the entire world. Visit the Dino Lab and monitor Lyle’s progress, as we preserve these natural wonders from the past for future generations.
