Help Japan and meet a Boulevard Brewery icon this weekend

Baristas will go head to head in order to help out the relief effort in Japan, as part of Rosettas for Relief at Portico Cafe (Inside the Kansas City Baptist Temple, 8720 E. 55th St.) on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature two separate competitions, a latte art throwdown and a brewer’s cup competition judged by local roasters.

There are three ways you can help. If you’re a barista, you can pay to participate in either coffee competition (donation of $15 or $20 for both). If you’re a coffee drinker (and this can include baristas), you can bid on the winning drinks or donated merchandise. All of the money raised at the event will go to the Red Cross.
